Prairie Dog Academy

​​A day spent at The Little Doghouse, learning and sharpening up on the basic skills that will help them remain composed out in the world. ​

​

  • 3 spots available per 6 week session, of one 5 hour day a week

    • Group based and individual training plan

    • Weekly homework, and regular support
       

      •  $375 6 weeks.

        • Includes consultation.

 Prairie Dog/City Dog; 

 small city socialization adventures: 

8 week program of 1, 1 hour outing.

​

  • Includes Video showing what is being taught and how to continue with that teaching, Virtual handouts and Virtual Support.

  •  Regular encouraged homework

  •  Occasionally, this will become a 2 or 3 hour visit to The Little Doghouse, depending on individual dog personalities and needs.

     

    • $450 for 8 sessions plus preliminary consultation.
       

Private Home Sessions

1:1 - 1 hour session - virtual or in person. .

  • 6 sessions, $360 with a $75 consultation fee. 

  Boarding:

The Little Doghouse on the Prairie still offers boarding but, the focus on the style of pet services offered by The Little Doghouse on the Prairie has shifted. The boarding reflects Lindsay’s training and husbandry principles regarding helping dogs see the reward in being calm, feeling safe and using their own ability to make good choices.

The “facility” is in a spacious house, in the middle of the city.In house numbers are kept to a minimum with an absolute maximum ever of 7 dogs in the house. The fence is locked, and there are spaces for gates and barriers, in a house with open spaces and interconnected rooms. There are 3 doors between the main part of the house and the locked yard, the front door is only used with extreme caution.

Although crates are used for management purposes, as well as baby gates, barriers, doors, leashes – Lindsay does not believe in the boarding facility style of dogs staying in kennels and receiving minimal enrichment. Positive reinforcement is used in the house to guide dogs in understanding that the behaviour we expect from them is explained clearly to them and heavily rewarded. We play, snuggle, go on suitable adventures, do training and aim to have a great time doing so.

  • All boarding dogs must be pre-approved prior to boarding with a consultation at the client’s home with the company of one of Lindsay;s dogs. The Little Doghouse on the Prairie does not take new boarding clients on short notice.

    ***Restrictions or surcharges due to behavioural issues may apply . Not all dogs are suitable for this service***
     

  • Regular academy dogs, veteran and repeat boarding clients:

    • $60/Night

    • No consultation required.
       

     

  • New Boarding Clients:

    • 4 nights or fewer → $80/night

    • 5 or more nights → $ 70/night

    • $75 consultation fee.
